Disruptive Thinkers

Christensen graph: Wikipedia.org
The military blogs have been buzzing about Ben Kohlmann's SWJ post about the need for "disruptive thinkers". There is a good debate going on but I'm wondering why now? Many people have argued the need to shake things up to keep the military on pace with globalization and conflict. Maybe we are at a Tipping Point?

Maybe a corps of disruptive thinkers, embraced by the military, could be as impactful as a disruptive technology in Christensen's market model.

It is also interesting how Kohlmann's description of the problem is similar to Jim Collins' description of the first stage of a business' decline: Hubris Born of Success.

In many ways, our military departments are the same as major corporations. I think you can reasonably draw parallels between the business world and the military.
